Gus Hansen - Gus Hansen Poker
Gus Hansen Profile
Gus Hansen is a popular poker player from Copenhagen, Denmark. Hansen is not your prototypical player as he had experience with other games before moving onto poker. Before becoming a professional poker player in 1997, Hansen was known to be one of the best backgammon players in the world. Additionally, he also excelled on the tennis court at a young age. Although backgammon and tennis do not relate directly to the game of poker, it is safe to say that these experiences helped to fuel Hansen's competitive fire.
Gus Hansens Poker Style
Perhaps Hansen is best known for his aggressive style of play. He never has a problem bluffing his way to the top. Often times this leads to other players raising him at the wrong time, which in turn allows Hansen to come away with the victory.
Although Hansen may not have as many wins under his belt as some other players,
as of 2007 he has earned more than $5 million through the game of poker.
Hansen has never won a World Series of Poker tournament, but he has had a high level of success nonetheless. For instance, in a 2007 tournament he finished high enough to win $154,194.
The World Poker Tour is where Hansen has really excelled over the years. He has won three tournaments, which makes him the first and only player to achieve this feat. All of his success has led to his 2004 induction into the World Poker Tour Walk of Fame.
In addition to his poker success, Hansen has won big in the business world as well. He founded pokerchamps.com in 2003, and later sold the company for approximately $15 million.
Gus Hansen is one of the biggest names in poker. He has been playing successfully for more than 10 years, and there is no reason to think that this will change anytime soon.
