How to Play Blackjack
There are a lot of casino games that may get you excited. But as
with anything, there are some that beat out the competition in more
ways than one. In the wonderful world of casinos, the game of
blackjack is very popular. Why, you may ask? Generally speaking,
there seems to be two very simple reasons for this. First off,
anybody can learn how to play blackjack. Do you know how to count?
If so, playing blackjack is going to be a breeze for you. On
top of this, even though winning is not always easy, when you are
victorious you can fatten your pockets quite a bit.
The game of blackjack is played with anywhere from one to eight
decks of cards. Obviously, the more decks that are used, the less
chance there is that players will be able to use an effective card
counting strategy. This is why you will rarely come across a
blackjack game that is being played with one deck of cards.
Scoring In Blackjack
Blackjack scoring is self explanatory. The cards numbered 2
through 10 are worth their value. Face cards are worth 10, and aces
can be used as either a 1 or an 11; whichever one best suits your
current situation. Obviously, if you are sitting on 18 and receive
an ace, you will want to use it as a 1 so that you do not bust.
When you win a hand of blackjack it pays at the rate of 3:2. As you
can imagine, if you bet more money you will win more money. Some
have risked hundreds of dollars on one hand of blackjack, and in
turn made a tidy sum.
How do you win at a game of blackjack? If your hand is closer to 21
than the dealers, without going over, you will get paid; it is just
that simple. But even though the way that you win is simple, the act
of doing so can be far more complex.
One thing that new players should be aware of is the house edge. If
both you and the dealer bust, you lose. But if you tie, it is a
push. As you can see, the dealer definitely has the advantage in
this area.
A game of blackjack starts with each player placing a bet. Be aware
of the table minimums before you start playing. The dealer will give
himself two cards, as well as all players at the table. The players
cards will be face up, while the dealer will have one face up and
the other face down.
Once looking at your cards, you can “stand” or “hit.” If you like
your chances with your current cards, you will want to stand. If you
want another card to get closer to 21, ask for a hit.
The basics of blackjack are simple to understand. After a few games
you will begin to pick up on the finer details, and hopefully this
will allow you to increase your odds of winning.
